The Importance of Curb Appeal when selling a home

In an article published online by Paul Esajian on the Importance of Curb Appeal, "The aesthetic look of a home’s exterior can tell what someone can expect to find on the other side of the front door. At the very least, the exterior will determine whether or not buyers even want to take a look inside. Therefore, if you want to maximize your property’s value, it is wise to focus on improving its curb appeal. Only once buyers are convinced the inside is worth seeing will they inquire further." Curb appeal can mean the yard is clean and tidy, house is freshly painted, and there is no clutter surrounding the outside of the home.

When the curb appeal is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, prospective home buyers are more likely to view the home. Paul Esajian goes on to write, "First impressions make a difference when it comes to selling a home. Improving the exterior of a property may not be as exciting as trying to figure out what to do with the kitchen, but it is more important in many ways. At first glance, you want your property to have a “wow” factor!" 

There are several small things that can be done to improve the curb appeal. Giving TLC to the lawn and surrounding landscaping. Ensuring the grass is green and without weeds. Trimming the bushes and removing anything that is not flourishing.  If the exterior of the home is dirty, it's easy enough to pressure was the house.  Also painting the home and siding is a small investment to make the house stand out. Replacing the house numbers is also another very small investment that could make a difference in the way the home shows.
