Signs indicate that 2016 could easily be a record setting year for the “new construction” housing market. Last year, Volusia County was the busiest for new home construction since before the housing market's recession with positive growth continuing through the first quarter of 2016.
According to Volusia County economic development division data, January was the strongest start for a new year since 2007. The combined estimated construction cost for new homes permitted during January was $41.9 million with a total of 143 permits for new homes issued. This is a 414.5 percent increase compared to the 101 permits issues in January of 2015. You’ll find that purchasing a “new constructed” home is different from buying an existing home. For an example, there is no previous homeowner so you are not dealing with a seller’s emotional tie to that property: which is typically the most critical factor that influences the negotiation process. New homes also offer the latest in energy efficient construction along with builder warranties.
